Abby Breitfeld is an Electrical Engineering major at Princeton University. She had always dreamed of becoming an astronaut, but realized early on that her unfortunate physical condition of being an absolute nerd (a combination of bad eyesight and asthma) would disqualify her from actually going to space. So, she set out to make the best of her interest in the cosmos, dabbling in planetary geology and astronomy until finally settling on electrical engineering and computer science as her way to the stars. Now, when people ask her what she wants to do with her life, she tells them she wants to build and program robots that get launched into space.

As a student, Abby has been involved in planning and volunteering at Princeton’s Envision conference, which brings together speakers and participants passionate about the future of technology, like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and space travel. She is also a member of Engineers without Borders.

As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Abby looks forward to interning at Altius Space Machines during the upcoming summer.
