This past week the Brooke Owens Fellowship was awarded the Unsung Hero of the Year Award from the SpaceNews Awards for Excellence & Innovation 2019. The winners were selected by the SpaceNews editorial team. The news comes after the Brooke Owens Fellowship was awarded the Reader’s Choice Award for Unsung Hero of the Year in November after finalist round voting by more than 40,000 SpaceNews readers.

The BOF was founded by Lori Beth Garver, William Pomerantz, and Cassie Kloberdanz Lee who poured their heart and soul into a program meant to honor Dawn Brooke Owens by giving women and gender minorities in aerospace opportunities typically not available to them.

Lori, and two BOF Alumnae, Ayla Grandpre and Luc Riesbeck, attended the 3rd annual awards luncheon on December 10 in Washington, DC, to accept the awards given. Thank you again SpaceNews for this honor!

The full list of winners and the awards issue can be found on the SpaceNews website.
