Danielle Wood, PHD

Danielle Wood is a space systems engineer and researcher with expertise in technology policy for the US and emerging nations. As of January 2018, Danielle is starting a faculty position at the Media Lab in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she will lead a research team called Space Enabled that advances justice and development by improving designs for complex systems.

Danielle previously served as the Goddard Applied Sciences Manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Her role at Goddard was to foster the transfer of earth science findings for societal applications such as food security and water resource management. Earlier, Danielle served as Special Assistant to the Deputy Administrator at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Prior to working at NASA, she held positions at the Aerospace Corporation, Johns Hopkins University, and the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs.

Danielle studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned a PhD in Systems Engineering, M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, M.S. in Technology Policy and B.S. in Aerospace Engineering.
