Mia is a junior at Saint Louis University majoring in Aerospace Engineering and minoring in Mathematics. She discovered her passion for engineering during the first semester of her freshman year and she hasn’t looked back since.

Mia always knew that she wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to use her natural aptitude for academics to make a difference. She is passionate about sustainability and equality in the aerospace industry and beyond. On the brink of a new era in space commercialization, Mia is excited to participate and lead the next generation of innovation.

At SLU, Mia works with the AirCRAFT Lab where she is developing 3D models of urban areas around the world to demonstrate the feasibility of drone flight in densely populated areas. Currently, her model of St. Louis, MO is undergoing testing with several drone flights showing the possibility of safe travel in the real world. The ultimate goal of her work is to coauthor a paper before her graduation on the problems and current capabilities of drones in urban usage. In addition to her work in the lab, she is the Technology Chair for her sorority where she leads STEM days for St. Louis area Girl Scouts to encourage the next generation of young women. In past years, Mia has worked at Washington University as a Data Analytics and Engineering Intern and at Largely as a Software Engineering Intern.

In her free time, Mia enjoys watching TED talks, building Legos, and traveling with her family and friends. As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Mia will be interning with Voyager Space. She is excited about contributing to Voyager’s mission of developing a sustainable space economy and embracing every opportunity as a Brooke Owens Fellow.
