Hanna Mark is a graduating senior at Duke University, finishing a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a certificate in Aerospace Engineering. With a love of physics, aerodynamics, and outer space, Hanna's dream is to enter the spaceflight industry as an engineer and pilot. Inspired by powerful engineers and scientists like Mae Jemison, Steven Hawking, and Alan Turing, Hanna hopes to contribute to the world of tech and science while also being an example to those who are made to doubt their place in STEM fields.

At Duke, Hanna is the Avionics Lead, Treasurer, and former Propulsions Lead of the Duke AERO Rocketry Team. When not on the workroom floor or in the classroom, Hanna also is a dedicated dancer and comedian, serving as Vice President of the Duke Ballroom Dance Team, a member of Duke Swing Dance Club, and a member of Duke's sketch comedy troupe, Inside Joke. With any free time, Hanna loves to draw and create, and is an avid lover of video games, farmers' markets, and cooking.

In research, Hanna's artistic eye enables her to perceive research challenges from a unique perspective. In sophomore year, Hanna conducted research on nonlinear deformation in cantilever beams. In the following two years, Hanna has conducted independent studies on "Aerodynamic Behavior of 2-D Flat-plate Airfoils in Supersonic Flow" and "The Optimization of Beams with Respect to Weight for Aerospace Contexts using Additive Manufacturing".

As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Hanna will be working full time as a Test Engineer at Sierra Nevada Corporation in Englewood, Colorado.
